Olive green: like the condiment that accompanies James Bond’s Martini, like the nature that lines the hills of California and the carpets of mid-century villas. As winter sets in, this suave hue, which captures the energy of the 50s and 60s, plunges us back into the hushed atmosphere of the modernist era.
In the aftermath of the Second World War, olive green, closely associated with military uniforms, inspired a whole wardrobe based on canvas and camouflage. Nomadic furniture and bunker architecture followed. The range also evokes the lush vegetation of the jungles of Latin America and Southeast Asia, cradles of a tropical modernism that revels in natural materials and sensual lines. True to this heritage, Swiss manufacturer USM is introducing this color to its iconic modular system line, designed in 1963. Deciphering a color that spans the ages and resonates with the aspirations of a refined modernity.

OLIVE GREEN INVITES ITSELF TO USM
From the Paris offices of the Rothschild Bank, designed in 1969, to the most beautiful contemporary villas, the Swiss manufacturer and its modular furniture system, an icon of modernity, live on through the ages. This winter, USM adds a fifteenth shade to its permanent color chart: olive green. Initially launched as a capsule collection last year, this range injects cachet into even the most unusual interiors.
